O’s Notes: Pianist Davidson gives us a taste of Brazil with eleven original bossa nova tunes. The trio includes David Finck (b), Paulo Braga (d) and guest artist Marivaldo dos Santos (perc). Davidson has a strong affinity for Brazilian music and works the rhythms well. This is one of the few bossa nova recordings written by an American! Roger accomplishes this as if he were a native. Among the best are “Samba para Minhas Crianas” and the bubbly title track.
