O’s Notes: Boy Goes To City is the second album from composer, producer and guitarist Matt MacDougall. Matt was born in Nova Scotia and the city her resides in is Nashville. His band includes guest Jeff Coffin on tenor sax, bassist Roy Vogt and his wife, Arianne Fanning on drums. They hit full stride on “Heritage” as we find Matt integrating a vast array of styles into the music. It is mostly rock with fusion, jazz, folk and even some of his wife’s Indian ancestry thrown in for color! We enjoyed “Modern/Miscellaneous” and “Melancholy Lullaby” best.
