O’s Notes: One of the finest pianists and composers on the planet is Roger Davidson. He hangs out on the left coast but has written music that has traveled around the world. He’s always had a penchant for Latin rhythms and presents us with Brazilian Love Song, a collection of 18 of his compositions recorded over the last thirty-two years. He performs with a talented quintet including Paulo Braga (d), David Finck (b), Aaron Heick (sax) and Marivaldo Dos Santos (perc). From the fleeting notes of “O Jogo” to the soft romance of “Longing for You” there is both playful and intimate love music here. We enjoyed the mild samba beats of “In a Garden of Orchids” and “Now I See Your Heart” along with many others.
