O’s Notes: Pianist Alex Maguire likens his cooking on stage to the beer-making process where fine singular ingredients (musicians in this case) come together as a delicious brew. The ingredients here are Jean-Paul Estiviénart (t), Robin Verheyen (sax), Michel Delville (g), Damien Polard (b) and Laurent Delchambre (d). Master brewer Maguire shares recipes with his sous-chefs and they concoct a jazz-fusion stew. It is rather eclectic at times with wild spicy blends but seems to hold together. The kitchen (studio) was located in Belgium, perfect for a brew! The best dish: “Seven for Lee”.
