O’s Notes: The legendary jazz pianist Keith Jarrett (75) has been quiet since a 2017 stint at Carnegie Hall. We sadly learned that he suffered two stokes in 2018 that have left him paralyzed on his left side. But don’t count him out yet as he recovers from fatigue sessions in the late 1990s. Look to Budapest Concert for some his brilliance, a live solo recording done in front of an enthusiastic audience in Budapest during Jarrett’s 2016 European tour. It is an expansive set over two discs with Jarrett in his own world, time and space. The good news is that he lets listeners into his space. It’s accessible, appreciable, introspective and rich with emotions. It could be one of his best recordings.
