O’s Notes: Soft Machine Legacy was established early in the new millennium, a reenactment of Soft Machine, the popular late-1960s progressive rock-fusion band. They have continued to evolve into the current quartet with two original members John Etheridge (g) and John Marshall (d) joined by drummer John Marshall and bassist Roy Babbington for their latest recording Burden of Proof. They play an energetic set of originals along with a fresh cover of Soft Machine’s “Kings and Queens”. The only thing retro is the free spirited approach to jazz that bodes well in 2013!
