O’s Notes: Brent Birckhead is the musical mastermind behind CACAO, producing, arranging, composing, leading the band, and playing all saxophones, flutes, b-clarinet, and synthesizers. The music is solid, old-school R&B with a contemporary groove that goes on end to end! Guest vocalist Christie Dashiell adds shadowing on two selections notably “Who Is It? Who Is It?”. We also liked the funky “Cold Fried”, “Jodeci” – true to its namesake, and the swagger of “Skyline” with Dashiell and spoken word by Renaissance Mic and Christian.
