O’s Notes: Jazz pianist Omar Sosa is a dynamic performer and composer. This is a solo effort that includes electronic samples to enhance the mood. The journey starts with “Sunrise” and moves through many moods of the day before “Sunset” prepares us for rest. It is not as explosive as many of his earlier works but it has an abundance of texture and passion that we’ve come to expect from Sosa. The project is dedicated to Omar’s wife Montse and his mother Maria. The beauty, compassion and sense of tranquility associated with both of them comes through in Calma, a very soothing body of work.
