O’s Notes: Jerry is a swinging crooner backed by a wealth of talented musicians. The combination makes Can’t We Be Friends a winning session. Strong solos by Andy Farber on flute and sax on “East of the Sun” and “Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps” are prime examples. Mike Carubia (t), Joe Cohn (g) and Mark Sherman (vibes) also weigh in heavily throughout the program. It is easy to get caught up in the romance of it with Jerry’s lyrics and the ever-present bounce. Well done.
