O’s Notes: This is a modern jazz quartet with percussionist, Abou M’Boup joining the band on four of the songs. Pilc plays piano and places it out front for most of the tracks. His music is creative, drawing on Afro-Latin rhythms and using whistles, soprano sax and lighter piano notes to soften the attack. For example “South” has lots of complexity and dynamics yet is easy to digest. The rest of the songs follow that pattern. They are interestingly intricate with the freshness of Spring.
