O’s Notes: Brazilian pianist, Antonio Adolfo leads a large ensemble including Lula Galvão (g), Jorge Helder (b), Rafael Barata (d, perc), Jesse Sadoc (t, flugelhorn), Idriss Boudreaux (a-sax), Marcelo Martins (t-sax, fl), Rafael Rocha (tb), and Andre Siqueira (perc). On Carnaval Adolfo revisits some of the classic tunes associated with the annual celebration in Brazil, combining jazz and Brazilian music artfully. We liked the festive flow of “As Pastorinhas”, “Agora E Cinza”, and “A Lua E Dos Namorados”.
