O’s Notes: Steve Treseler (sax) and Ingrid Jensen (t) are both from the Pacific Northwest with a strong appreciation for each other’s musicianship. They’ve performed together many times and come together on Center Song a collection of mostly Treseler originals, a couple of covers and Jensen’s title track. The groove is neobop, sometimes mellow and sometimes explosive as on “Ultra Tempo” with a few free form interludes thrown in. Our favorite is the cool swagger of “Cold hammered”.
