O’s Notes: Keyboardist Larry Goldings and trumpeter John Sneider team up for an intimate, duo session on Chinwag, a conversation between friends of 30 years! While they’ve performed together many times and resorted duets as a part of larger group recordings, this is their first recording dedicated to duets. Larry plays upright, grand and picket pianos, a Jenkins Celeste and Hammond organ to impart the mood of the period for each selection. There is a mix of original tunes by the headliners with freshly arranged classics. The music mostly reflective ballads cast in dark shadows.
