O’s Notes: Bassist, composer Quinn Sternberg has taken a fresh approach with his latest recording, Cicada Songs. He plays many different moods using both electric and acoustic bass over eight original compositions. His accompaniment includes pianist Oscar Rossignoli, guitarist Charlie Ballantine, drummer Peter Varnado and Sam Taylor on sax. The groove is solid notably on “Alter Ego” and “Remember The Birds” where Max Bronstein-Paritz (g) replaces Ballantine. We also enjoyed the ballads especially “Ami’s Lullaby”
