O’s Notes: Circles is a reissue of The Paul Bley Synthesizer Show from 1971 and 1972’s Paul Bley & Scorpio. At the time Bley has become somewhat bored with the piano and began experimenting with synthesizers in jazz fusion. There are no dubs and it was pioneering work. It sounds somewhat dated today but remains an important piece of the fusion puzzle. Highlights include “Parks” and “El Cordobes”.
