O’s Notes: Sax man Johnny Griffin pairs up with Horace Parlan on piano. This is a project that was envisioned for many years before coming to fruition. Yes, it was definitely worth the wait, a series of ballads that inspire the listener to Close Your Eyes and listen to the music. Horace and Johnny played together in the early sixties but in larger bands. As a duo, you’ll hear all of the nuances of each instrument coming out in sweet tones. While neither received all of the deserved accolades, they show they’ve still got it today.
