O’s Notes: The quartet is Tom Coster (keyboards), Baron Browne (b), Frank Gamble (g) and leader Steve Smith (d). The band has been around since 1983 when Steve assembled a few friends to play their preferred blend of fusion. Over 20 years later they are still a viable entity able to morph their sound with the times. Today they are playing a blend of funky fusion that fits in well on both the traditional cool jazz side as well as contemporary fusion. We found the session to be packed with a wide variety of strong songs, mainly new music written by the band members.
