O’s Notes: New York based saxophonist and composer Jacob Shulman plays dark, mellow, free-fusion jazz in a quartet with pianist Hayoung Lyou, bassist Simon Willson and drummer Avery Logan. The music draws on influences from German, Persian and Japanese music. That’s a rather unusual combination and it results in the eclectic mix of Connectedness. Highlights are “Indigo Conjunction”, “Ordinary” and “Long Line”.
