O’s Notes: Sonny brings forth an incredible sense of swing on Continuum, with an expressive voice on sax that benefits from his wealth of experience. George Cables (p), Steve Johns (d), Wayne Dockery (b) and Steve Berrios (percussion) flesh out the band. This is Sonny’s first recording on his own label. The program includes originals that were inspired by Coltrane, Shorter and Santamaria along with a cover of “Nature Boy”. Fortune plays very well on this set giving us a very enjoyable session.
