O’s Notes: Guitarist Fred Fried leads his trio, Core with Michael Lavoie (b) and Miki Matsuki (d). They play nine new neobop/fusion tunes composed by Fried. Mike and Miki are integral pieces of the music and come together with Fred in a shared experience. The music is fresh, peaceful and relaxing. Among the best are “Weather Changes”, “Henry” and “the Things You Do”, a warm ballad.
