O’s Notes: Malone plays bass and the stick. He teams up with guitarist Bob Bunin and drummer Sean Reinert for ten primarily fusion tunes. They are all originals except a cover of “Giant Steps”. Cortlandt was originally released in 1996 but it was not widespread. Malone takes inspiration from Jaco and brings his bass into the forefront playing the melody on most tracks. “Fischer’s Gambit”, “Controversy” and “Big Sky Wanting” with its big percussive beats, are highlights. After over eleven years, the music still sounds good.
