O’s Notes: The lineup is Satoko Fujii (p), Natsuki Tamura (t), Christian Pruvost (t), Peter Orins (d), and Ikue Mori (electronics). Crustal Movement is yet another an adventurous session that could easily be the soundtrack for a mystery movie! The combination of grunts, atypical instrumental extractions, and improvisation will usher listeners into new territory. Mori provides a generous dose of electronics on “Rolle Cake” but more typically blends his work into the Kaze free jazz.
