O’s Notes: Anthony Branker is composer, arranger and producer. He is also the musical director of a fine cast of musicians. Kadri Voorand (vocals) and Tia Fuller (sax) shine on “Mysterious Ways” before Kenny Davis (b) and drummer Adam Cruz lead the way on the heavily syncopated title track. Pianist Jonny King mellows the mood on “A Smile Awaits”. Ralph Bowen (sax), Fuller and Clifford Adams (tb) provide a powerful brass harmony on “The House of the Brotherhood of the Black Heads”. Guest guitarist Freddie Bryant makes a notable appearance on “Truth”. We also enjoyed Voorand on “Asking Answers”, “A Beautiful Life” and “The Holy Innocent”. In fact we enjoyed this entire album, a well-balanced session!
