O’s Notes: Miranda sings upbeat ballads in front of a quartet with Don Thompson (p), Rick Kilburn (b), Dan Brubeck (d) and Phil Dwyer (sax). The program is a mix of known and unknown standards with a couple of Miranda’s originals. Among the best are the bookends: “Serenade in Blue” & “Dream” and “Up Jumped Spring”. The pairing of a good voice with a strong band produces a solid effort.
