O’s Notes: O’s Notes: Bob Lark’s DePaul University Jazz Ensemble has appeared on numerous notable jazz recordings featuring all-star talent. Of course the University band members have changed on each recording but the performances have all been top notch. This one featuring trumpeter Randy Brecker is no exception. The big band adopts his fusion groove on “Squids” and then comes together with rich harmony especially on “Well You Needn’t”. We loved the first two tracks and they were just warming up so brace yourself for and incredible session.
