O’s Notes: Michael Farquharson plays bass with co-leader pianist Matthew Nicholl. They team up with Tim Miller (g), Greg Badolato (sax) and Steve Lagone (d) to form a core quintet that is accentuated by a few different musical groupings for Della By Moonlight, a fresh set of contemporary jazz with varied tempos. Most prominent is the chamber ensemble that joins them for nine of the twelve selections giving this session a classical bent. The exceptions are the title track and “Nine Toes”. Both had a really cool swagger.
