O’s Notes: Carla returns with her second release in the Maxjazz Vocal Series. Her voice is naturally rich and smooth with a good sense of harmony. The use of trombones (dem bones) is unique and works well. The band is tight with Cyrus Chestnut (p), Billy Kilson (d) and Fred Wesley (tb) among the team. The music and her voice are complementary and free of congestion. The songs, both classics and originals are jovial and uplifting, yes, we liked it!
