O’s Notes: Dan leads this set on piano gracefully playing eleven original compositions. Producer Brian Bromberg plays the bass and he does a fine job of it with a notable solos on “Departure” and “Soliloquy”. Vinny Colaiuta (d), Lenny Castro (perc) and Bob Sheppard (sax) are the other core members of the band. Norman Brown (g) makes a guest appearance on “Street Talk” as does Grant Geissman (g) on “Shades of Gray”. Sheppard’s work on sax complements Siegel well especially on “Mosaic”. This is an open, natural sounding session that is good listening as well as background music.
