O’s Notes: Mark (sax) sows up in quartet format here with Kurt Rosenwinkle (g), Reid Anderson (b) and Nasheet Waits (d). Melodies are shared between Mark and Kurt, many times blending dark tones. Nasheet and Reid step out occasionally with pronounced beats as in the beginning of “Jacky’s Place”. The program, all new Turner compositions, is on the mellow side, well suited for relaxed listening.
