O’s Notes: This is vocalist Fred Farrell’s debut on Whaling City and we hope to hear many more in its likeness. His accompaniment is crisp, clean and open with pianist Richie Beirach and saxophonist Dave Liebman shining behind Farrell as well as alone. All of the musicians participated in composing the material, some spiritual, some reflective and all quietly stimulating.
