Guitarist Rez Abbasi assembles a trio with Neil Alexander (keyboards) and Michael Sarin (d) to celebrate the compositions of Django Reinhardt. This concoction is rather unique, a fresh take blending lesser known Reinhardt tunes with Abbasi’s creative genius. Alexander’s organ pipes impart a carnival feel on several songs making Django-shift a fresh fusion recording that stretches the envelope. Highlights are “Django’s Castle” and “Hungaria”.
