O’s Notes: Sari Kessler is not a widely known name in jazz circles but she is known as a marathon runner, mother and a clinical psychologist! This is her debut as a singer and she does it intelligently! She employed producer/arranger/percussionist James Shipp and a slew of proven polished performers to accompany her including John Di Martina (p) and Houston Person (sax). She sings a series of jazz and popular classics all arranged to fit her whims! These are unique takes that revitalize the old tunes. Sari took over two years to finish the project incorporating elements of her heroes into her own style. There are also a couple of originals! Of note are “Feeling Good”, “Walk On By” and “Moonglow”. If more aspiring musicians followed Kessler’s path, we’d be bathed in very good music!
