O’s Notes: Veteran musicians Randy Brecker on trumpet and Eric Marienthal on saxophone share lead billing for Double Dealin’. They serve up a strong dose of funky, syncopated jazz fusion, all new originals. Producer, composer George Whitt adds keyboards, bass, drums, and programming for most of the tunes. Special guests John Patitucci (b) and Dave Weckl (d) join the party for a few tunes, notably “Fast Lane”. The take it down a notch for “Mind The Fire” and “3 Deuces”. We also enjoyed the title track, “Sambob” and “The Hipster”.
