O’s Notes: Pianist Aaron Parks came onto the jazz scene with a slash when he joined trumpeter Terence Blanchard’s band at 18. He developed a name supporting Blanchard on four recordings. He’s since developed as a leader with a few of his own albums. Little Big II, Dreams of A Mechanical Man is his latest endeavor. It starts out spacey with an abundance of electronics before settling into a more peaceful set with standouts like “The Ongoing Pulse of Isness”. But the dominant theme here is soft rock fusion as on “Where Now?” We prefer the more traditional tracks.
