O’s Notes: Pianist Dino Massa forms a quintet with coproducer Christopher Burnett (sax, cl), Charles Gatschet (g), Andrew Stinson (b) and Clarence Smith (d, perc). The music was composed by Massa except “Imagine” by guest Marcus Hampton (flugelhorn) and “Notos” by Burnett. These are warm, almost chamber jazz-type, instrumental ballads. The melodies are dancing on songs like “Alone”. The integration between guitar piano and sax are seamless and they handle the melodies wonderfully. We enjoyed the peaceful adventures on the Echoes Of Europe.
