O’s Notes: Cuban born, Spanish based master pianist Omar Sosa’s music is generally warm, smooth and dynamic. Egg n (ancestors) is no exception, and even more mellow than usual. Challenged to recreate the Miles Davis ’59 classic Kind of Blue, Sosa pays tribute without including any songs from the original. Instead, he calls on the spirit of Miles to inspire this creation. The album ends up being dedicated to the spirit guides of many of Omar’s influential jazz masters including Evans, Monk, Trane and others. The result is yet another relaxing session.
