O’s Notes: Trombonist Reginald Cyntje assembles a septet to perform his visionary creation of music connection the human mind with Elements of Life. Bassist Herman Burney and drummer Amin Gumbs provide a solid foundation that is amplified by Allyn Johnson (p) and Victor Provost (steel drums). The titles, “Earth”, “Fire”, “Water”… are accurate descriptions of the music behind them. Cyntje has produced a fine session with music that moves the soul and touches different emotions. Brian Settles (sax) and vocalist Christie Dashiell complement Reginald on the melodies. Our favorites are “The Aftermath”, “Water” and “Earth Revisited”.
