O’s Notes: Guitarist Greg Chako has spent a lot of time in Asia both performing and living in Japan. But his last few releases have placed him among the elite jazz guitarists in America. Everybody’s Got A Name continues that trend. The players are Mark DeRose (d), Yasuhiro Hasegawa (b) and Hiroshi Tanaka (p). The musicians have good chemistry coming from regular gigs together in Japan. They may not be “name players” but they make good music! Greg wrote most of the music, a blend of bebop (title track), ballads (“All Roads Lead Home”) and Latin (‘The Lamp Is Low”) tunes. You will enjoy his buttery tone on guitar in both trio and quartet formats.
