O’s Notes: Facing West is the self-titled debut of a cordless quartet featuring Donnie Norton (t-sax), Doug Stone (t-sax), Braun Khan (b) and Brian Claxton (d). Each musician contributes original compositions to the mix, a set of eight songs that are a rather sophisticated jazz-fusion. They coalesced as a band on a tour that prepared them for the recording and cemented their friendship. The core of the set stands out: “Silly Me”, “Hangin’ In” and “Tim The Enchanter”, leaving us in anticipation of Act II.
