O’s Notes: Scott (p) leads a trio that plays larger than three members. He gives his team freedom to create in their own space. Bassist Larry Gray and drummer Paul Wertico each perform with a level of detail that is worth tracking through each song. Yet they play together as a band, complementing each other without showboating. They completed this session without rehearsals in about three hours, a true testament to their cohesiveness. The best bets are “James (trio)” and the title track.
