O’s Notes: Drummer Steve Johns leads a quartet with producer Dave Stryker (g), his wife Debbie Keefe Johns (sax) and their son Darryl Johns (b). Bob Devos (g) makes a guest appearance in place of Stryker on four selections and both stand out. However this is truly a well-knit family, especially on stage with Dave as a honorary member having cut his teeth with Steve on the NY jazz scene in the early 1980s. Our favorites include “Shadow Boxing”, “Mixing” and “DKJ”. Family is a worthy jazz-fusion performance with a lot to enjoy.
