O’s Notes: Gene makes his tenor sax sing on this collection of ballads. They were originally released in 1972 as Got My Own and Big Bad Jug. Jug was Gene’s nickname. The accompanying musicians include Hank Jones (p), Joe Beck (g), Ron Carter (b), Idris Muhammad (d), Billy Cobham (d) and a full string section for the first 3 songs.
