O’s Notes: Fire and Rain is the latest release from pianist Tim Ray and his trio including bassist John Lockwood and drummer Mark Walker. They play a dozen fresh arrangements of modern jazz classics plus a radio edit of the title track. There’s a pervasive, cool swagger that makes this a very listenable, 75-minute set. Highlights include “Bye-Ya”, “Mojave”, “Stolen Moments”, and “Improv #1”.
