O’s Notes: Flying Steps is the latest trio recording led by pianist Yelena Eckemoff. Drummer Peter Erskine returns from Cold Sun with Darek Oleszkiewicz replacing Mads Vinding on bass. They perform eleven fresh compositions written by Eckemoff that seem to have an immediate familiarity. She invited her accompanying musicians into the spotlight on numerous occasions to keep the listener engaged. The mood is peaceful yet energizing.
