O’s Notes: Stevens has idolized the late pianist Andrew Hill and finds himself even more intrigued as time goes on hence the dedication of this album to Hill. It was recorded in March 1996 but only released in 2008. The band is a piano trip with bassist Peter Herbert and drummer Jedd Siegel accompanying Michael on piano. They perform nine tunes, mostly Stevens’ originals. We liked “Parallel Lines”, “Waltz” and “The River Po” in a strong program.
