O’s Notes: Vibraphonist Joe Locke revisits his 1994 recording, Moment To Moment with a different twist. The original album featured instrumental versions of Mancini hits. He rejuvenated the concept with a live performance at Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola in NY. This time he introduced the voice of Kenny Washington, a fine Bay-Area based baritone storyteller. That was in 1997. The concept expanded to include more than Mancini’s work and culminates here with an all-star band and great tunes. Geoffrey Keezer mans the piano with George Mraz (b) and Clarence Penn (d) combining to make a formidable rhythm section supporting Locke on vibes. The title track is just one of many cool relaxing standards that will delight both sophisticated contemporary and traditional jazz audiences. This is a fine combination of voice and music.
