O’s Notes: Drummer Juan Chiavassa is from a small town in Argentina where he developed a passion for jazz-fusion. He idolized musicians like guitarist Mike Stern who makes his presence known with a guest appearance on the opener “Moon Germs” and the bonus closer “Jam”. We also liked “Caribbean Fire Dance”, “Hey Open Up”, and the mellow “Penelope” featuring bassist John Patitucci & George Garzone on sax. The second half includes a couple of modern jazz tunes notably “The Other Mingus’.
