O’s Notes: Taylor is one of the best jazz guitarists around today. He employs a strong group of musicians on Freternity to play a combination of old and new tunes. We enjoyed his solo performance of “Stella By Starlight” followed by “Joyspring” with Guy Barker on trumpet. He shares the melody with Barker on “Chez Fernand” and with pianist David Newton on the title track – one of two Taylor originals with cool Latin beats. Newton also contributes a couple of compositions notably the ballad “You Know It’s True”. Alison Burns sings the lone vocal track “Kissing Bug” to round out a strong session.
