O’s Notes: Trumpeter/composer Jason Klobnak’s quartet includes Eric Erhardt (sax), Jeff Jenkins (B3) and Kevin Matthews (d). They play eleven new songs centered on“Friends and Family, a hearty serving of groove and blues with some funky accents thrown in for good measure. Jason shares the spotlight with Erhardt as they play generous solos. They harmonize together as well. There’s a lot to like here especially “S.I.K.” featuring Jenkins, a little calypso on “Inception”, the soothing ballad: “One For The Mother” and the sizzling title track.
