O’s Notes: Musical composer Ezra Weiss and lyricist S. Renee Mitchell tell the inspirational story of African Americans migration from Alabama to Oregon. The time was 1923-1942 in Maxville and Vanport, Oregon, where two communities of African Americans and Immigrants lived and contributed to the growth of the Northwest US. While they escaped some of the pains of the south, they encountered new prejudices towards people of color. Marilyn Keller is the passionate voice of resilience and courage backed by an emotional band to deliver a riveting performance.
